After a week filled with exciting activities and commitment to charitable endeavors, 20-year-old Vani Dianilawe Tobakarakarawa has been crowned the new queen of the Vodafone Sugar Festival 2024.
Originally from Waciwaci, Lakeba, in Lau, and with maternal roots in Yalobi, Waya, in Yasawa, the University of Fiji law student was still coming to terms with her accomplishment on Saturday night.
“Words cannot express how grateful I am,” she stated. “The journey has been challenging, but many wonderful people have supported and guided me and my fellow contestants to reach this point.”
Sponsored by Travel Consultant and Tours, Vani intends to use her platform to encourage religious organizations to join the battle against illicit drugs.
“Churches have stepped beyond their traditional roles to embrace and support affected youths, offering a safe environment and vital social assistance,” she remarked.
Chief guest Farheen Saheb, Chief Financial Officer of Vodafone, emphasized the festival’s commitment to charitable efforts.
“Charity for those in need is not simply a theme for this festival; it serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to assist the less fortunate and strive for a more inclusive society,” Ms. Saheb stated.
