Value City Successfully Raises Over $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji
Value City has made a significant contribution to the cause of children battling cancer in Fiji by raising approximately $67,000 over a span of six weeks. This impressive amount was generated through various innovative fundraising initiatives organized by the company.
During a cheque handover event, Managing Director Vera Chute highlighted the importance of a collective effort, especially as families and children in Fiji face unexpected hardships. Among the fundraising activities mentioned were the sale of food packs, weekly kati events, raffles, and a kava barrel. Ms. Chute reported that the staff’s remarkable dedication raised nearly $26,540. This amount was subsequently matched by Value City, resulting in a total of approximately $53,080.
Furthermore, a morning tea gathering held in early September for suppliers, service providers, business associates, and friends of Value City added an impressive $14,537 to the cause, bringing the grand total to $67,617.
A crucial contributor to this year’s fundraising efforts was Essity, which provided an in-kind donation valued at $5,000, including essential items like tissue, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers for the WOWS Kids Centre.
Ms. Chute passionately commended WOWS Kids Fiji for its hard work and expressed hope that the funds raised would empower their mission of offering life-saving treatments, medication, and essential care to children in need. She emphasized the importance of continuing these efforts to bring hope and support to the brave young warriors and their families.
This initiative not only demonstrates the dedication of Value City and its partners but also serves as a poignant reminder of the impact that community involvement can have on addressing critical issues such as childhood cancer. Together, they are fostering a spirit of compassion and hope, making a meaningful difference in the lives of many vulnerable children and families.
Overall, this fundraising effort showcases the power of teamwork and community spirit in addressing significant challenges. As more organizations step forward to support initiatives like these, there is a growing sense of optimism for the future welfare of affected children.
