Value City has successfully raised approximately $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji over a period of six weeks through a variety of fundraising activities. Managing Director Vera Chute highlighted the significance of collective responsibility, particularly during challenging times faced by Fijian children and their families.
The fundraising initiatives included the sale of food packs, weekly kati events, raffles, and a kava barrel, which collectively contributed $26,539.90 through staff efforts. Value City matched this amount, bringing the total to $53,079.80. An additional morning tea event held at Api Tonga earlier in September generated $14,537.25 from suppliers, service providers, business associates, and friends of Value City, culminating in an impressive total of $67,617.05.
Chute recognized key contributions, such as an in-kind donation from Essity valued at $5,000, which provided essential supplies like tissues, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitizers for the WOWS Kids Centre. She praised WOWS Kids Fiji for their crucial work and expressed optimism that the funds raised will support necessary treatments and care for affected children and their families.
Highlighting the importance of community efforts, Chute urged continued support for the children battling cancer, stating, “Let’s continue to do what we are doing and bring hope to our brave young warriors and their families.”
This initiative showcases how collective action can lead to significant outcomes, inspiring hope for courageous children and their families facing difficult circumstances.
Overall, the determination and generosity exhibited by Value City and its supporters exemplify the power of community spirit in making a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
