The University of the South Pacific Students Association (USPSA) has stated that it will not get involved in disputes between university employees and the administration. This clarification comes amid an ongoing conflict involving USP staff and management.
USPSA noted that the termination of employee Osborne-Naikatini caused temporary disruptions for some students. However, the association emphasized that it does not have authority over employment conflicts, as these matters are subject to legal procedures.
In their statement, USPSA expressed respect for the established procedures and regulations outlined by the university’s ordinances and its council. To address student concerns, USPSA leaders met with senior university officials, including vice-chancellor and president Professor Pal Ahluwalia.
Additionally, the association engaged with affected students to hear their issues. USPSA reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the general welfare of all students.
