USP Council Meeting on Fijian Staff Welfare: What’s Next?

The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, plans to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad and Minister for Labour Agni Deo Singh to initiate a Special University of the South Pacific Council Meeting.

Radrodro aims to address several issues, particularly the welfare and concerns of Fijian staff at the University of the South Pacific (USP). He has also referred the case of staff terminations by USP to the Ministry of Employment.

“My goal is to resolve the issues that have been raised concerning the welfare of Fijian staff, particularly regarding terminations and threats of strikes,” Radrodro stated.

He emphasized the Government’s respect for the Prime Minister and all other member countries of the USP Council, highlighting the importance of ensuring the smooth operation of USP while prioritizing the well-being of both teachers and students to foster a positive learning and working environment.

Radrodro mentioned that he has kept the Prime Minister informed about developments concerning USP.
