USP Association Stays Neutral Amidst Management Dispute

The University of the South Pacific Students’ Association (USPSA) has stated that it will refrain from engaging in the dispute between USP Management and a recently terminated employee, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the appropriate legal processes for any claims arising from such situations.

USPSA President Lepani Naqarase expressed respect for the procedures and guidelines established in USP’s Ordinances and Statutes. He noted that in response to concerns from some members, the association’s executives, including representatives from the Laucala Branch, met with senior management, such as the Vice-Chancellor and other key figures to discuss support measures for impacted students.

Naqarase mentioned that the USPSA also convened with the students directly affected by the incident to address their concerns. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting the welfare of its student body.

After these discussions, the USPSA expressed satisfaction with the management’s arrangements to ensure that services for these students would proceed without disruption. Naqarase added that the association would continue to monitor the agreed-upon measures in collaboration with management and maintain ongoing communication with Vice-Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia.
