Urgent Warning: Protect Our Children from Exploitation

Parents and guardians are being strongly encouraged to keep a close eye on their children’s whereabouts. This call to action comes from Sashi Kiran, the Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, following reports of children engaging in begging activities on the streets.

Minister Kiran highlighted that such situations strip away children’s rights to a safe and nurturing environment, exposing them to potential risks, including exploitation and abuse. The Ministry emphasizes that it is the legal responsibility of parents and guardians to ensure the safety and well-being of their children. When children are compelled or incentivized to beg, their rights, along with the protective national laws, are violated.

Additionally, the Ministry, in collaboration with law enforcement, is committed to taking legal action against those who endanger children’s welfare. Kiran also cautioned that parents enabling this illegal behavior may face consequences.

In an effort to combat this issue, the public is being asked to report any sightings of children engaged in begging to the police.

This initiative reflects a dedicated effort to safeguard the most vulnerable members of society, ensuring that children can grow up in a protected and supportive environment. Communities working together can make a significant impact in addressing these challenges and fostering a future where all children can thrive.

Summary: The Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation urges parents to monitor their children’s whereabouts amid reports of street begging. The Ministry emphasizes parental responsibility for children’s safety and the need for public support in addressing this issue while pledging to prosecute those responsible.
