Urgent Repairs to Disrupt Water Supply in Savura

Spread the love

The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that it will be isolating the raw water pipeline leading to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant in Savura due to urgent repairs needed for a damaged washout valve. This damage was caused by flash flooding that occurred early this morning when a tree trunk swept down by floodwaters struck the valve.

Samuela Rokovaleusa, the WAF Manager of Regional Operations, emphasized that repairing the washout valve is crucial for ensuring both water production and the integrity of operations. He noted that a significant volume of water is currently being lost from the pipeline and is not reaching the treatment plant.

The isolation of the pipeline is set to begin today and is anticipated to continue overnight. During this time, residents in nearby areas may face water supply disruptions. Rokovaleusa has assured the public that his team is working diligently to complete the repairs quickly and will provide water carting assistance as needed. Residents are advised to prepare for this temporary interruption in water service.
