The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, plans to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad and Minister for Labour, Agni Deo Singh, to request a Special Council Meeting of the University of the South Pacific (USP).

Radrodro aims to address various issues, particularly concerning the welfare of Fijian staff at USP. He has already referred the cases of staff terminations at the university to the Ministry of Employment.

“My goal is to resolve the issues that have been raised regarding staff welfare and the concerns that have emerged, specifically the matters related to terminations and strike threats,” Radrodro stated.

He emphasized that the Government acknowledges the Prime Minister and all member countries of the USP Council, and is committed to ensuring the university operates smoothly while prioritizing the well-being of both teachers and students to foster a positive learning and working environment.

Radrodro also mentioned that he has kept the Prime Minister informed about developments at USP.
