Upcoming Weather Alert: Is Rain on the Horizon for Fiji?

A trough of low pressure is predicted to impact the country starting Wednesday, bringing cloud cover and showers. The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi reported that an easterly wind flow is currently dominant over the region.

The forecast for the Fiji group until midnight tonight indicates cloudy conditions with showers expected in provinces such as Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu North, Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri, Ra, southern Bua, eastern Macuata, and Cakaudrove, as well as Kadavu, nearby smaller islands, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups. There may be isolated heavy rainfall, particularly in the afternoon or evening.

In other areas, the weather is expected to be generally fine, aside from possible afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Winds are anticipated to be moderate to fresh coming from the east, along with moderate to rough sea conditions.
