The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) has expressed concern about the increasing hostility among women on social media. Lavenia Tuitabu, a counselor advocate at FWCC, addressed this issue during a live video on their social media platform, questioning the source of the conflict between women who seem to battle against one another.
According to Ms. Tuitabu, such animosity often stems from relationships where a man is involved with multiple women. This leads to confrontations between the women, where their animosities are laid bare on social media. She pointed out that even though women may be deeply hurt, they often protect their partners while directing their anger toward the other woman.
During these disputes, Ms. Tuitabu noted that women frequently overlook their male partners’ roles, instead lashing out at one another with damaging words. She highlighted that the man typically remains uninvolved and indifferent to the emotional turmoil faced by both women, manipulating the situation to his advantage. This dynamic raises the question of who is truly responsible for the conflict, with Ms. Tuitabu asserting that the man is at fault.
She lamented the painful reality of how these confrontations lead to the sharing of personal images online, where the women are subjected to derogatory comments.
