“Unveiling the Government’s Battle Plan Against Drugs”

Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has stated that while completely eradicating drugs may be impossible, managing the issue is feasible. During an appearance on The Lens@177, Mr. Tikoduadua acknowledged that the drug problem predates his tenure and will likely persist after his departure. He emphasized the need for a robust government system to prevent exploitation and lead the fight against drugs effectively.

“Our main goal as Fijians is to educate and prevent our people from consuming drugs,” he said. “That’s our desired outcome.”

Mr. Tikoduadua noted that Fiji cannot stop drug production in regions like South America, North America, or Asia, nor can it monitor all maritime traffic effectively. “Even with the most advanced technology, countries like the United States struggle to control cargo. We have a porous ocean that surrounds the island,” he explained.

He reiterated the importance of educating Fijians to “say no to drugs, do not consume drugs.”
