Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. This team has maintained an undefeated record since the U14 grade.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence as they aim to reclaim past glories for Delainakaikai. He noted the importance of strong defense during halftime of the final match, emphasizing, “We cannot keep making those lazy mistakes at critical moments.”
Naqicitabua praised the team’s preparation and composure, particularly in the final ten minutes, which ultimately secured their victory.
He attributed the team’s success to unity and the strong relationships among players, despite losing about 12 original members over the years, highlighting the legacy they continue to build.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua acknowledged the challenge of obtaining the Under-18 title, stating, “It has been long since the school has been aiming to regain this title. We will prepare and work hard to bring back the glory.”
