Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their success last Saturday by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. This team has maintained an unbeaten record since the Under-14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence for the upcoming year as they aim to restore the school’s glory in Delainakaikai. “During halftime, I urged the boys to tighten their defense since it was the final,” Naqicitabua noted. “We can’t afford to make lazy mistakes during critical moments of the match.”
He highlighted that the team was well-prepared and demonstrated composure, especially in the final ten minutes, which contributed to their victory.
“The key to our success lies in the unity and bonds among the players. Approximately 12 original members of this team have moved on, but credit goes to the boys today for building this legacy,” he added.
When discussing goals for next year, Naqicitabua stated, “It has been a long time since the school last secured the Under-18 title. It will be a challenging task, but we will train hard and strive to reclaim that honor.”
