Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive winning streak last Saturday by clinching the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. Remarkably, the team has maintained an unbeaten record since their U14 age group.

In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming season, as they aim to restore their glory to Delainakaikai.

“During halftime, I instructed the players to focus on their defense since this was the final match,” Naqicitabua stated. “We need to eliminate those careless mistakes during crucial periods of the game.”

He also emphasized that the team was well-prepared and stayed composed, particularly in the final ten minutes of the match, which helped them secure victory.

Naqicitabua highlighted that the key to the team’s success lies in their unity and strong bonds among players. He acknowledged that while about 12 players had started the journey with the team and subsequently moved on, the current players deserve credit for building this legacy.

Regarding goals for the next season, Naqicitabua remarked, “It’s been a long time since the school has sought to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be challenging, but we will prepare and work diligently to bring back the glory.”
