Etu Tusitala, the former strength and conditioning coach for Fiji’s national sevens team, is continuing to experience financial difficulties as the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has not yet paid his outstanding wages, which total $277,000.

Tusitala signed a three-year contract in March 2022 when John O’Connor was the CEO of the FRU, and he received a work permit from the Immigration Department that is valid until March 2025. However, his contract was unexpectedly terminated, leaving him with a significant unpaid amount.

“I met with FRU CEO Rovereto Nayacalevu last week, and he assured me he would address the issue, but so far, there has been no follow-up or payment from them,” Tusitala stated.

Inquiries directed to the FRU about the delayed payment have not received a response, leaving Tusitala and others in the rugby community eager for clarification.
