“Unlocking the Future: The People’s Vision for Fiji”

The National Development Plan for 2025-2029 has been described as the people’s plan, designed through extensive consultations with citizens from various backgrounds.

During the plan’s launch in Suva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad highlighted that over 21,000 individuals were consulted, including representatives from civil society, industry groups, academic institutions, students, and religious organizations, to gather insights into their concerns and suggestions.

Professor Prasad emphasized that the plan embodies the aspirations of the populace, addressing their issues and desires. The primary goal is to enhance social well-being and ensure sustainable prosperity for all citizens. He asserted that every individual should experience significant improvements in their quality of life, while ensuring that no one feels neglected or deprived.

The Coalition Government intends to establish clear objectives for the upcoming three and five years. Initially, the focus for the first three years will be on addressing urgent issues that require immediate resolution, often referred to as “getting the basics right.” This includes ensuring access to clean drinking water, improving road infrastructure and drainage systems, enhancing healthcare facilities, providing affordable housing, and upgrading school infrastructure in the areas most in need.

Further details on this topic will be available in the major news bulletin at 6 PM on Fiji One.
