Unlocking New Horizons: Tower Vunilagi Scholarship Applications Under Review

A panel of experts is currently assessing applications for the newly established Tower Vunilagi Scholarship, with the company expected to contact successful candidates later this month. Jajeena Bhan, co-chair of Tower Insurance Suva Hub, mentioned that the panel consists of Tower group executives from New Zealand along with the leadership team from Fiji.

The term “vunilagi,” which means “new horizons,” reflects the scholarship’s goal. Bhan highlighted that the initiative aims to support students deemed promising future leaders of Tower, contributing to the enhancement of the business and fostering a fairer, more resilient, and sustainable future for all Fijians. This scholarship was introduced in June to mark the company’s 150 years of operation in Fiji.

The scholarship will provide full tuition fees for three final-year students from the University of the South Pacific (USP), along with a paid internship at Tower Insurance. Bhan emphasized the vast opportunities within the insurance sector in Fiji, stating, “Insurance is a wide-ranging, exciting sector with endless opportunities to progress your career and make a difference, right here in Fiji.”

Successful candidates will not only have their tuition covered but will also gain work experience through paid internships. They will graduate from USP with the chance to secure a permanent position at Tower. Bhan pointed out that many USP graduates are already part of Tower, making this scholarship an excellent way to strengthen that connection.

The company recently organized an open day at USP, which saw a significant turnout from students interested in learning more about career paths at Tower. Whether students were focused on data analysis, marketing, sustainability, or human resources, the team provided valuable information about exciting job opportunities. Tower will also participate in the USP Career Fair Days scheduled for October.
