Captain Lepani Vaniqi emphasized the critical role of communication in leadership during a formal dinner and graduation ceremony for the 2/24 Junior Staff Officers Course on October 4, 2024, at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks Officers Mess in Nabua, Fiji. As the Chief Guest of the event, Capt Vaniqi, who serves as the Director of Finance, Logistics, and Acquisition, praised the dedication and hard work of the Officers Training School Staff, recognizing their commitment to professionalism and the successful execution of the course.
In his address, he underscored that effective communication is crucial for inspiring and motivating teams. He noted that great leaders throughout history have not only been visionaries but also outstanding communicators, capable of painting vivid images of the future that engage their audiences and create a sense of shared purpose.
Capt Vaniqi further highlighted that communication must be reciprocal, urging leaders to listen to feedback from their teams. This practice not only shows respect but also acknowledges the contributions of team members.
He concluded by stating, “Communication is not merely a tool for leadership; it is the essence of leadership itself. It empowers leaders to inspire, collaborate, manage change, and build relationships.”
