The centennial celebrations of Ratu Kadavulevu School featured prominent speakers who motivated both current students and alumni to unite for enhanced prosperity and collaboration. During the event, government ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, highlighted the creation of new opportunities aimed at increasing job prospects for graduates.
Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, stressed the necessity of training students to lead future generations. “It is crucial to consider what we can do today to prepare our future generations for the challenges that lie ahead,” Vasu remarked at a recent Business Talk.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, and MSMEs, Manoa Kamikamica, discussed efforts to empower youth to take ownership within Medium, Micro, and Small Enterprises. He noted that entrepreneurship could be a pivotal solution to alleviating poverty in Fiji.
Kamikamica stated that effectively implementing digitization in Fiji could reveal substantial opportunities. He pointed out that the iTaukei economy is the most underutilized sector in the nation, comparing it to New Zealand’s Maori economy, which has generated over FJD $90 billion. The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tapping into this sector to induce positive changes in the iTaukei community.
“If we can achieve this successfully, Fiji will be a completely different country in the next 50 years,” he said, while praising the initiatives of Fijian Holding Limited, HFC, and the iTaukei Trust Fund in unlocking additional opportunities for iTaukei communities.
