Unlocking Decisions: Join a Masterclass with Professor Houghton!

The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) is collaborating with the University of the South Pacific (USP) to host an executive workshop led by Professor Keith Houghton, a renowned academic and author recognized for his innovative approaches to learning.

In the workshop titled “Evidence-Based Thinking,” Professor Houghton will impart valuable insights and practical strategies that will assist participants in critically assessing information, making well-informed decisions, and tackling complex challenges.

With academic credentials from esteemed institutions such as the University of Western Australia, University of Melbourne, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Professor Houghton brings extensive knowledge and experience to the event. He currently serves as the chief strategist for the Higher Education and Research Group (HERG) and has a history of aiding individuals and organizations in enhancing their decision-making processes.

Targeted at executives and professionals with substantial decision-making roles, the workshop will involve engaging case studies and focus on several key learning outcomes:

• Formulating better questions to obtain the most relevant information;
• Effectively searching for and evaluating evidence;
• Making dependable decisions based on solid evidence; and
• Evaluating the credibility of information sources.

Tarlochan Singh, Chairman of FICA’s Professional Development Committee, emphasized the significance of this event for executives aiming to improve their decision-making capabilities. The one-day workshop is set to take place on September 10 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
