The Fiji Sugar Corporation Ltd (FSC) has announced that applications for the 2025 FSC Apprentice Program will open this month. This initiative aims to provide young individuals with the necessary skills for successful careers in engineering and technical fields.
Fiij Sugar Corporation supports the trainees throughout the program. One of the success stories from this program is Siobahn Bogidrau, who is currently an electrical fitter apprentice at the FSC Mill in Lautoka. Bogidrau shared her journey, revealing that her interest in engineering sparked during a career class at Natabua High School.
Encouraged by the opportunities in the field, she joined the FSC Apprentice Program this year, where she has honed her skills and gained essential training vital for her personal and professional growth. “FSC has provided me with on-the-job training and technical skills, making me feel confident in my work every day,” she remarked.
Bocidrau emphasized that she has never felt limited by her gender in this industry, stating that the corporation treats everyone equally and continually motivates her to learn and enhance her skills. Looking forward, she is excited to continue her journey at FSC and aims to further her studies in engineering, mentioning that the skills she is acquiring are just the beginning of her career.
This program not only helps develop a skilled workforce but also promotes inclusivity and empowerment among young women entering traditionally male-dominated fields. As FSC fosters the next generation of engineers, it sets an inspiring example for other industries.
This article highlights the importance of vocational training programs and the vital role they play in building strong careers for the youth. The continued support from FSC shows a positive commitment to the development of future professionals.
