Unlock Better Decision-Making: Join the Workshop with Professor Houghton!

The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA), in collaboration with the University of the South Pacific (USP), is set to host an executive workshop featuring Professor Keith Houghton, a noted academic and author recognized for his innovative contributions to learning.

The workshop, titled “Evidence-Based Thinking,” will provide participants with valuable insights and practical tools. Attendees will learn how to critically assess information, make informed decisions, and tackle complex challenges, according to a statement from FICA.

FICA noted that Professor Houghton holds degrees from prestigious institutions, including the University of Western Australia, the University of Melbourne, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, bringing extensive experience and knowledge to Fiji. As the chief strategist of the Higher Education and Research Group (HERG), he has a strong history of assisting individuals and organizations in improving their decision-making processes.

The workshop is targeted at executives and professionals in significant decision-making roles. Participants will engage with case studies to develop skills in the following areas:

– Asking better questions to obtain pertinent information
– Effectively searching for and evaluating evidence
– Making trustworthy decisions supported by solid evidence
– Assessing the credibility of information sources

Tarlochan Singh, Chairman of FICA’s Professional Development Committee, emphasized the event’s significance for executives looking to enhance their decision-making capabilities. The one-day workshop is scheduled for September 10 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
