The University has announced that after a four-day strike, all staff members have returned to work as of yesterday.

In a joint statement issued by the Association of the University of the South Pacific Staff (AUSPS) and the University of the South Pacific Staff Union (USPSU) on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the unions directed all striking staff members to resume their duties starting Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Despite the return to work, the unions emphasized that they will continue to pursue a fair and transparent investigation into Vice Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia.

Furthermore, should circumstances necessitate it, the unions are prepared to initiate strike action again with little notice. Their strike mandate remains active until February 14, 2025.
