Unity Fiji party leader Savenaca Narube has criticized Minister for Women Lynda Tabuya for her approach to addressing the drug crisis in Fiji, particularly her support for the death penalty. He characterized this stance as a “short-sighted answer” to a complex issue that requires more thoughtful solutions.

Narube emphasized the necessity for unity among leaders to combat what he sees as the greatest threat to future generations, calling for practical and acceptable measures rather than punitive actions. He expressed concern that the proposed death penalty could violate human rights and would not effectively resolve the drug crisis.

He urged fellow leaders to carefully consider their statements on this serious issue, advocating for respect towards the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. Narube insisted that a comprehensive and integrated approach is essential, with all components coordinated properly to address the drug problem effectively.
