Unity Fiji Party Leader, Savenaca Narube, rallied the party’s supporters for unity at their Annual General Meeting last week in Tavua. The event saw over 300 attendees.
Narube has urged the party to focus on promoting its integrated transformation plan. This plan aims to boost resource-based sectors thereby diversifying the economy. Moreover, it could also help to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, potentially changing the country’s future economic landscape.
Narube addressed the recent political events, criticising the deregistration of a political party and implying that they reneged on their promises to the people to serve their own interests. He believes citizens have suffered greatly due to such actions from their elected leaders, and it is high time for change, with Unity Fiji leading the way.
During the AGM, the party’s audited 2023 financial statement was approved, along with proposed amendments to its constitution. These amendments aim to fortify the disciplinary procedures and governance within the party.
The AGM also saw the election of Noleen Billings and Eliki Lesione to Unity Fiji’s Executive Board.
