Unity and Reflection: Celebrating the Legacy of Prophet Mohammed

Members of the Ma’unatul Islam Association gathered yesterday in Maururu, Ba, to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. The event attracted participants from Ba, Lautoka, and Tavua, fostering a festive atmosphere as they came together to honor this important occasion.

Guest speaker Moulana Alim Muhammed, the founder and director of the Yes India Foundation, traveled from Kashmir, India to be part of the celebration. In his address, he shared a message centered on the future of Islam and encouraged Muslim youths to engage more seriously with their faith amidst modern distractions.

“Every youth and teenager loves to hold phones in their hands,” he remarked, challenging the younger generation to actively connect with their beliefs and understand their significance in the contemporary world.

Faizal Koya, reflecting on his family’s deep-rooted connection to Islam, emphasized the need for unity. He reminded attendees that while differences may exist within the Muslim community, they should be overshadowed by their shared love for the prophet.

“What we have in common is the foundation of loving our beloved prophet,” Mr. Koya stated. He called on the community to set aside their differences and work towards building bridges, particularly among various sects, including the Sunnis.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity, introspection, and the crucial role of the younger generation in sustaining the legacy of Islam.
