Uniting Communities Against the Drug Crisis: A Call to Action

Sakiusa Tubuna, the Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, addressed the growing concern of drug abuse in villages, particularly focusing on marijuana and methamphetamine, during the closing ceremony of the Nabobuco District School fundraising Rugby 7s tournament in Naitasiri yesterday.

He emphasized the detrimental effects of drug use on community development and the suffering it causes, especially for women and children. Tubuna called for a united approach in combating the invasion of these harmful substances into villages, stating, “The Government cannot do it alone, but if we stand united, we can prevent the widespread harm that these substances would bring to our communities.”

The two-day fundraising event was seen as a vital initiative aimed at fostering collaboration to build a multipurpose hall for the school. Tubuna expressed his appreciation to all the players who took part in the tournament and to the organizers for their efforts in making the event successful. He acknowledged the community’s support for the school’s fundraising goals, underlining the importance of such activities in enhancing educational infrastructure.
