Uniting Against Drug Abuse: A Community Call to Action

The Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Sakiusa Tubuna, has identified the increasing problem of drug abuse, especially marijuana and methamphetamine, as a significant issue affecting villages. He made these remarks while closing the Nabobuco District School fundraising Rugby 7s tournament in Naitasiri.

Tubuna emphasized that drug use threatens the well-being and advancement of villages, causing suffering particularly for women and children. He called for a united effort to combat the entry of these harmful substances into communities, stating, “We must tackle this problem collectively; the Government cannot do it alone but if we stand united, we can prevent the widespread harm that these substances would bring to our communities.”

He also noted that the two-day fundraising event marked an important step in collaborating to achieve the goal of constructing a multipurpose hall for the school. Tubuna expressed his appreciation to all players and organizers for their contributions to making the tournament a success and thanked the people of Nabobuco for their support in the school’s fundraising efforts.
