United for Education: A Call to Action on Moala Island

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has called on the community of Naroi Village on Moala Island in Lau to unite for the betterment of children’s education. During his visit, he highlighted that Fiji has approximately 13,000 teachers in primary, secondary, and early childhood education schools, emphasizing the necessity of investing in educators to combat the rising rate of school dropouts.

Mr. Radrodro encouraged both students and teachers to utilize the initiatives and resources provided by the Government. He noted that the Ministry of Education is the largest ministry in the Government and received a significant portion of the budget as presented by Finance Minister Biman Prasad.

He stressed the importance of teachers fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure children receive quality education. Mr. Radrodro emphasized the need for collaboration among teachers, villagers, parents, village leaders, law enforcement, and religious leaders to support children’s educational needs and elevate educational standards in Fiji.

Addressing the concerning issue of increasing school dropouts, he urged the community to prioritize the well-being of every child in terms of their education. The Government has introduced initiatives such as free loan schemes through the TSLS, along with plans to increase vocational educational training opportunities, creating pathways for children’s academic growth.

Mr. Radrodro called on all individuals, not just those in Moala Island but also those in other visited communities, to prioritize the education of children.
