Sakiusa Tubuna, the Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, has expressed concern over the increasing drug abuse in villages, particularly regarding marijuana and methamphetamine. He made these remarks during the closing of the Nabobuco District School fundraising Rugby 7s tournament in Naitasiri yesterday.
Tubuna emphasized that drug use poses a significant threat to village progress and inflicts suffering on women and children. He called for a united effort to combat the presence of these harmful substances in communities. “We must tackle this problem collectively; the Government cannot do it alone. If we stand united, we can prevent the widespread harm that these substances would bring to our communities,” he stated.
He also recognized the fundraising event as a vital initiative, aimed at constructing a multipurpose hall for the school, showcasing the importance of collective action. Tubuna expressed his appreciation to all the participants and organizers who contributed to the success of the event, and he thanked the people of Nabobuco for their support towards the school’s objectives.
