Opposition member and leader of the Parliament’s group of nine, Ioane Naivalurua, expressed his approval of attending the National Federation Party (NFP) annual convention held in Sigatoka. He was joined by fellow Opposition MP Naisa Tuinaceva, and both were welcomed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who served as the keynote speaker.
Naivalurua told The Fiji Times that receiving an invitation from the NFP is a positive indication of collaboration among different political groups during significant events. He emphasized the importance of unity at such gatherings, stating, “If we can meet at this level here, we are sending a positive message that can be portrayed or seen by the people.”
He noted that one of the major challenges in the political landscape is the willingness to listen to each other. “Today, I am happy that we received an invite from the NFP, and we respected it, which is why Honourable Naisa Tuinaceva and I attended,” he said.
Naivalurua highlighted the significance of the meeting for not just the Prime Minister and the NFP but also for the presence of diplomats in attendance. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Rabuka would convey a message promoting a better Fiji and enhancing mutual understanding among various groups.
