Uncovering International Drug Cartel Connection

A large drug network involving illegal deportees and criminal enterprises across the Pacific has come to light. Assistant Police Commissioner Sakeo Ganivatu, following a recent drug bust in Nadi, expressed concerns about the origin of these illicit drugs and the local facilitators involved.

ACP Ganivatu stated that the network includes deported individuals from other countries. Among the criminal enterprises involved are Mexican cartels, American cartels, Australian and New Zealand organized crime groups, and USA-based networks with ties to criminal deportees. He emphasized the sophistication and strong foundation of these networks.

“These networks are managed by very smart, intelligent people with degrees, including PhDs and master’s,” Ganivatu said.

He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to combat this issue, highlighting that it’s not just an obligation but a demonstration of the value placed on the country.

The focus, according to ACP Ganivatu, is to disrupt and dismantle the drug network as it begins to infiltrate the learning environment. By presenting a united front, he believes these networks can be effectively disrupted and dismantled.
