UNCOPS 2024 Summit Highlights Role of International Cooperation in Enhancing Global Peace and Security

The UNCOPS 2024 Summit was recently held at the United Nations headquarters, focusing on enhancing global peace and security through collaborative efforts between UN Policing and national law enforcement agencies.

A Fijian delegation, led by the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, and including the acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, took part in the summit.

Participants included ministers, police chiefs, and senior law enforcement officials from around the globe. The summit served as an essential platform for debate on how UN Policing and national law enforcement can collaboratively address emerging global security issues.

Additionally, key bilateral discussions were held between high-profile figures such as the Under Secretary General of the Department of Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre, and a courtesy call on UN Assistant Secretary-General for Safety and Security, Unaisi Vuniwaqa.

The UNCOPS 2024 summit, which had over 500 representatives from member states in attendance, highlighted the necessity of international collaboration in upholding global peace and security. The event was used by the Fijian delegation to promote dialogue on security matters.
