Vyacheslav Uzelkov, the renowned Ukrainian boxer, has tragically passed away at the age of 45. Known for his impressive career in the light heavyweight division, Uzelkov boasted an admirable record of 30 wins from 34 fights, with 19 of those victories coming by way of knockout. He was a distinguished champion, having held the WBA Inter-Continental, IBO International, and WBO Inter-Continental titles.
His demise occurred as he was in the process of recovering from heart surgery. The Ukrainian Boxing Federation expressed their deep sorrow over the loss on Instagram, stating, “It is with deep sadness that we announce that Ukrainian boxing has suffered a heavy loss – the death of Vyacheslav Uzelkov.” They paid tribute to his legacy, remarking that his name will always be remembered within the sport’s history, and his strength and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.
Uzelkov, affectionately nicknamed “Steel Power,” began his professional boxing journey in 2004, securing his first win against Suleyman Dzherilov.
