Ubayd Haider vs Runqi Zhou: A Fight to Remember in Fiji!

Ubayd Haider has labeled his upcoming bout for the IBO Oceania-Orient vacant featherweight title against China’s Runqi Zhou as the most significant challenge of his boxing career.

Haider revealed that he began training this week after a lengthy break, emphasizing his commitment to thorough preparation. “I’ll make sure that I’ll leave no stone unturned,” he stated, acknowledging the limited boxing scene in Fiji and the scarcity of sparring partners.

Despite the challenges, Haider is focusing on solo training. He considers Zhou to be a tough opponent, remarking, “I will have to match him in the ring.” While he feels that Zhou has a high work rate, he does not find him particularly powerful.

The match is scheduled for October 26 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, and Haider anticipates a fierce confrontation with his Asian rival. “I’ve been training alone because of my work and the timing of the match,” he explained, mentioning that he trains at the Uptown boxing gym in Suva.

Haider has called on fans to attend what he promises will be an intense fight. “It will be a bloodbath as both of us will have broken noses and cuts around our eyes; we’ll be at war in this fight,” he warned. He respects Zhou’s training background, pointing out that his opponent trains with notable world champions, which adds to the level of difficulty.

Haider expects critics to be present, likely hoping to see him knocked out, but he remains focused on preparation. “Like every other fighter, I will be coming for victory,” he affirmed. Additionally, he believes he has advantages in footwork and height against Zhou.

Finally, he expressed gratitude to South Pacific Boxing promotions and Amarok Accessories for their support.
