Tui Nadogo Urges Families to Reassess Kava Consumption for Children’s Futures

The Tui Nadogo, Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali, has urged villages in Nadogo, Macuata, to limit kava consumption to encourage parents to spend more quality time with their children.

Ratu Ilisaniti emphasized the importance of fathers being present at home to supervise their children effectively. He stated that a father figure is essential for instilling discipline in the household and that inappropriate behavior should not be tolerated.

He highlighted the necessity of teaching children how to conduct themselves within the community and the importance of religious values passed down by parents.

Ratu Ilisaniti expressed concern about the current generation of children and youths becoming involved in technology and criminal activities, which he believes undermines the village’s legacy of unity, peace, and growth. He noted that the coming decade will be crucial in determining whether youths remain focused on achieving a successful life or assume national responsibilities.

He stressed the need for youths to pursue education and secure stable jobs to prevent being influenced by individuals involved in drug trafficking. In past interviews, he has also cautioned the community against cultivating marijuana.

He further advised against planting illegal drugs and encouraged the community to explore alternative agricultural ventures to enhance their income. With a focus on enhancing community-police partnerships, Ratu Ilisaniti called for greater family involvement in religious and traditional activities to support children’s development.
