Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has urged Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry to be transparent and provide evidence regarding the charges brought against him by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for submitting false statutory declarations to the Registrar of Political Parties.
“When you speak with him, seek the truth,” Professor Prasad stated when asked for his thoughts on Mr. Chaudhry’s assertions. “Determine whether he is being truthful. That’s my comment, and where are his sources of information?”
In response, Mr. Chaudhry claimed that a Board of Inquiry would disclose everything. Professor Prasad had previously informed The Fiji Times that his lawyers had already reached out to FICAC and denied any grounds for the charges against him.
Efforts to obtain a response from FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali were unsuccessful.
