“Trouble Brews for Rural Service Providers”

Some rural service vehicle providers are threatening to withdraw, according to Education Ministry permanent secretary Selina Kuruleca.

Kuruleca stated that a relevant authority has issued a stern warning to these service providers.

“These rural service providers are to service routes which they are permitted to provide,” she said.

Kuruleca told this newspaper that numerous discussions have been held with the authorities.

“We have about 640 rural service vehicle providers in Fiji,” she mentioned, adding that there were a couple of rural service providers whose submissions have yet to be verified.

“So, when their documents are not verified, their payment will not come through.”

Kuruleca explained that their documents would be returned if they are not in order.

“For those rural service vehicle providers whose documents are in order, it will take three to five working days.”

She highlighted that these were some of the challenges faced by rural service providers.
