Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a high standard, featuring beautification projects and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated that the goal is to create a vibrant park where residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to understand the facilities desired by the community. He mentioned that plans are in place to install benches throughout the park for public comfort.
The council has initiated several projects this year aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic areas around town. “We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi said.
In addition to beautifying and upgrading municipal parks, Ligairi highlighted that it is also the residents’ responsibility to care for these spaces. He stressed the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent littering.
To combat littering, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been set up around the town to monitor offenders. Ligairi has also urged corporate entities to engage in council-led clean-up initiatives and to organize their own clean-up events at least once a month. “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he stated.
