Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a higher standard, focusing on beautification initiatives and public amenities.
Samuela Ligairi, the council’s special administrator, stated that the goal is to create a vibrant park where both residents and visitors can enjoy leisure activities. He emphasized the necessity for the council to understand the needs of the community, mentioning the intention to install benches for relaxation within the park.
This year, the council has undertaken multiple projects to improve community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are dedicated to delivering the best services for our community,” Mr. Ligairi affirmed.
In addition to beautifying and upgrading municipal parks, he highlighted the shared responsibility of residents in maintaining these spaces. He underscored the critical need for proper rubbish disposal to combat littering issues.
To address this, several closed-circuit television cameras have been placed around the town to monitor littering behavior.
Mr. Ligairi also encouraged businesses to join council-led clean-up efforts and to organize their own clean-up initiatives at least once a month.
“This will improve the town’s cleanliness and attract more visitors,” he stated.
