Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and elevate Lions Park to a higher standard through beautification initiatives and improved public services. Samuela Ligairi, the council’s special administrator, expressed the goal of transforming the park into a vibrant activity hub for both residents and visitors to unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Mr. Ligairi emphasized the necessity for the council to recognize the facilities that residents need, including the installation of benches within the park for visitors to rest. This year, the council has embarked on multiple projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the placement of over 20 benches in key locations throughout the town.
“We are committed to delivering the best services to our community,” he stated. Additionally, Mr. Ligairi highlighted that while upgrading and beautifying municipal parks is vital, it is equally important for residents to take responsibility for the upkeep of these facilities. He underscored the significance of proper waste disposal to prevent littering.
To address littering issues, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around the town to monitor violators. He also urged local businesses to engage in council-organized clean-up campaigns and to conduct their own clean-up efforts at least once a month.
“This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
