The council is set to enhance its municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a high standard, focusing on beautification projects and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated that the goal is to transform the park into an activity hub where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Mr. Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to be attuned to the facilities desired by residents, mentioning plans to install benches for public use within the park. This year, the council has initiated various projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations across the town.
“We are dedicated to providing the best service to our community,” he noted.
Additionally, Mr. Ligairi pointed out that while beautifying and upgrading municipal parks is a priority, residents also have a role in maintaining these facilities. He highlighted the significance of responsible rubbish disposal to prevent littering. To support this initiative, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around the town to monitor and deter littering.
He encouraged corporate organizations to join in council-led clean-up campaigns and to organize their own clean-up efforts at least once a month. “This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
