Transforming Lions Park: A Community’s Vision for a Beautiful Hub

The local council is planning to enhance its municipal facilities and improve Lions Park to a high standard, which will include beautification projects and new public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated that the objective is to turn the park into an activity hub where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy leisure activities.

Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of the community, noting that plans are underway to install benches in the park for public comfort. This year, the council has initiated several projects aimed at enhancing services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations throughout the town.

“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi explained.

He mentioned that alongside the beautification and upgrades of municipal parks, it is crucial for residents to contribute to the maintenance of these facilities. Ligairi highlighted the importance of responsible rubbish disposal to prevent littering, noting that several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around the town to monitor littering activities.

Additionally, he urged local businesses to engage in council-led clean-up initiatives and to conduct their own clean-up events at least once a month. “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors,” he remarked.
