Transforming Lions Park: A Community’s Charge for Cleanliness and Beauty

The council is set to upgrade its municipal facilities and enhance Lions Park to a high standard, focusing on beautification and public services. Council special administrator Samuela Ligairi announced plans to transform the park into an activity hub for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy their leisure time.

Mr. Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding the facilities that residents need, mentioning plans to install benches for visitors to rest in the park. This year, the council has initiated several projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches throughout key locations in the town.

“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” he stated.

He also highlighted that while beautification and upgrades are essential, it is equally important for residents to take responsibility for maintaining these facilities. He underscored the need for proper rubbish disposal to prevent littering, noting that several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around town to monitor littering activities.

Additionally, Mr. Ligairi urged corporate entities to partake in council-led clean-up campaigns and to organize their own clean-ups at least once a month. “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors,” he remarked.
