The local council is planning to upgrade its municipal facilities and enhance Lions Park with various beautification initiatives and public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated that the intention is to transform the park into an engaging space for both residents and visitors to relax and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to understand the facilities that the community requires. To that end, plans are underway to install benches throughout the park for people to rest. This year, the council has undertaken numerous projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations throughout the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi noted. He also stressed that alongside the beautification and upgrades, residents share the responsibility of maintaining these facilities. He highlighted the importance of disposing of waste properly to prevent littering.
To help combat littering, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been placed around the town to monitor offenders. Ligairi encouraged local businesses to get involved in council-led clean-up efforts and to organize their own clean-up events at least once a month.
“This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors,” he concluded.
