Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a high standard, featuring beautification initiatives and improved public services.
Samuela Ligairi, the council’s special administrator, stated the goal is to transform the park into a vibrant activity center where both residents and visitors can relax and enjoy leisure time. He emphasized the importance of understanding community needs when it comes to facilities, noting that plans include installing benches for park-goers to rest.
This year, the council has undertaken several projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are dedicated to providing the best service to our community,” Mr. Ligairi remarked.
He also mentioned that alongside beautification efforts and park upgrades, it is essential for residents to take responsibility for maintaining these facilities. He highlighted the significance of proper waste disposal to combat littering and reported that multiple closed-circuit television cameras have been set up throughout the area to monitor littering behaviors.
Mr. Ligairi encouraged local businesses to engage in council-organized clean-up initiatives and to carry out their own clean-up efforts at least once a month.
“This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he concluded.
