Transforming Fiji’s Workforce: How $1.2M Budget Boosts Job Creation

Outsource Fiji President Morika Hunter has highlighted that the government’s allocation of $1.2 million to the organization in the 2024-2025 Budget will drive efforts to create more job opportunities locally.

Hunter emphasized that the funding would help tackle labor migration by offering Fijians competitive and well-paying jobs, allowing them to stay near their families and communities. She also noted the increased funding would support Outsource Fiji’s initiatives to enhance the country’s risk diversification capabilities.

“Our focus is on making Fiji a well-recognized risk diversification location,” she said. “This funding will help us further market Fiji’s competitive outsourcing advantages, attracting global brands and investors in crucial areas such as infrastructure, training, and education, thereby creating more employment opportunities for Fijians.”

Hunter expressed deep gratitude for the Fijian Government’s continued support of the outsourcing sector. “This substantial allocation of $1.2 million will enable us to lead initiatives that will not only generate more job opportunities but will also allow Outsource Fiji to extensively collaborate with our stakeholders to upskill Fiji’s workforce and those aspiring to join the industry,” she added.

Addressing labor migration by raising awareness about the outsourcing industry is a primary goal with the new budget, according to Hunter.

Outsource Fiji Executive Director Sagufta Janif mentioned plans to achieve quality certification to ensure their operators meet international standards, thereby boosting their service offerings and credibility in the global market.

“Additionally, we will intensify our efforts to market Fiji as an outsourcing destination in new markets such as the USA and the UK, while continuing to strengthen our presence in existing markets like Australia,” she said.
