The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to devise effective strategies to support children and enhance the education system in Fiji. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro made these comments during the inauguration of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.
Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires children, instilling innovative thinking, and nurturing them to become solution-oriented leaders of the future. He stated, “You are tasked to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, and I encourage you all to think about the need to empower your students to be independent thinkers.”
He highlighted that teamwork is essential for fostering social cohesion, but it is also vital to develop children’s character so that they possess a sense of purpose, vision, and direction.
The Heads of Schools (HOS) were encouraged to extend their roles beyond teaching and leadership within the classroom to actively engage with their students’ families. “Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to be leaders of your respective schools, and we should create an educational landscape where every student can thrive, every teacher can excel, and every community can flourish,” Radrodro added.
