Transforming Fiji’s Education: A Call to Action for Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop practical strategies aimed at enhancing children’s education and transforming the educational landscape in Fiji. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro delivered these remarks during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an inspiring environment that fosters innovation and creative thinking, enabling students to become future problem-solvers. He highlighted the need for educators to bridge the divide between traditional teaching methods and modern innovations, encouraging them to empower students to become independent thinkers.

He pointed out that teamwork is vital for social cohesion, but underscored that nurturing children’s character development is fundamental to instilling a sense of purpose, vision, and direction. Radrodro urged school leaders not to confine their roles to the classroom, but to extend their support to parents and the community in nurturing children’s growth.

“Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to lead your respective schools, and together we should strive to create an educational environment where every student can prosper, every teacher can thrive, and every community can flourish,” Radrodro stated.
